Celtic Knot Triquetra Pewter Ring

This Celtic knot pewter ring features a Triquetra and 2 infinity symbols on the sides.

Celtic knots are complete loops without any beginning or end, this unending style is called pure knots. The knots vary from simple to complicated ones. The use of only one thread highlights the Celts’ belief in the interconnectedness of life and eternity.

Triquetra is a noun resulting from the Latin tri- ('three') and quetrus ('cornered'). Its creative meaning was merely 'triangle' and it has been used to refer to a variety of three cornered shapes. The triquetra has been found on rune stones in Northern Europe and on early Germanic coins. It presumably had pagan meaning and it bears a resemblance to the Valknut, a symbol associated with Odin.

The triquetra deals with the power of three, which is often seen as a divine number. This symbol that is formed from the intersection of three circles sometimes is shown with a fourth circle woven through it. When this is the case that fourth circle adds more weight to the significance.  It can connect the mind, body and soul and represents the way the three individuals are part of one whole and has many meanings such as life-death-rebirth, spirit-mind-body, mother-father-child, past-present-future, power-intellect-love and creation-preservation-destruction, the circle can show spiritual unity with the divine.

The infinity symbol has become identified with a variation of the ouroboros, an ancient image of a snake eating its own tail that has also come to symbolize the infinite, and the ouroboros is sometimes drawn in figure-eight form to reflect this identification, rather than in its more traditional circular form

Material
Pewter Pewter is a malleable metal alloy, traditionally 85–99% tin, with the remainder consisting of copper, antimony and other metals. Copper and antimony act as hardeners and depending on the mixture of metals it can be in colors ranging from a grayish/silver to blue and can be colored black or other shades in a semi-dull finish. Pewter is generally hypo-allergenic can resist tarnishing therefore it can retain its color and finish almost indefinitely or plated with gold, brass or silver.
